Today tourism and recreation form a significant part of the gross regional product of the North-Caucasian Federal district. However, there are significant problems of tourist attractiveness of the North Caucasian subjects, for both domestic and foreign tourists. In the article the analysis of current problems of the development of positioning the North Caucasus Federal district in the global market of tourist services. The theoretic-methodological basis of the study was based on the works of such leading foreign scientists, as F. Kotler, Asplund K., Reina I., Haider D., Ukrainian specialists may be noted research Pankruhin A. P. Sorokina and CU considering theoretical and practical problems of positioning of areas under the dialectical method. The research allowed the authors to clearly identify major existing problems affecting the Institute of development and positioning of the tourism industry NCFD and to determine the necessary conditions for a solution of these problems.
