Abstract:
The wealth of hydrocarbon resources, the intersection of energy and transportation routes, the uncertainty of the international legal status of the Caspian Sea, the overall strategic position coupled with a high probability of implementation of «color revolutions» in the Caspian States, poses a potential threat to Russia's national security. The study of these geopolitical features of the Caspian region allows to determine the possible points of intersection of interests of global players, which is especially relevant at the current stage in the ongoing geopolitical processes.
