The article investigate a question of definition and an assessment of the intellectual capital that is one of the most important questions of effective development of the knowledge-intensive industries organizations. The author emphasizes that in spite of the fact that the concept "intellectual capital" is rather new, its role actively grows every year in the world and first of all in developed countries which go to "economy of knowledge" today. This question is current because of a present post-crisis stage of development of Russian economy. In the article the main approaches to assesment of intellectual capital which are used in Russian and foreign practice are considered. The author points out that the methods of evaluation of intellectual capital must integrate all non-financial components into one manageable unit. This article is intended for graduate students, undergraduates, students and those interested in intellectual capital.
