ELECTORAL LEGISLATION OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION ON PUBLIC AUTHORITIES PARTICIPATION IN THE ORGANIZATION AND ELECTION

Objectives: The article analyzes the electoral legislation norms of the Russian Federation that provide for the participation of government bodies and local self-government bodies in the organization and conduct of an election campaign, and also examines the main points for their participation. Conclusions: The current electoral legislation provides for the participation of government bodies, state bodies, local governments and their officials in all stages of the electoral process, but there is no specific list of all bodies that are called upon to assist election commissions in organizing and holding elections. In most cases, the legislator does not specify the name of the state body, using only the general wording - "state authorities and local self-government bodies". Suggestions: to designate state bodies and local self-government bodies participating in various stages of the electoral process, it is advisable to include in the current electoral legislation the term "public authorities" with the interpretation of its meaning in art. 2 of the Federal Law "On Basic Guarantees of Electoral Rights and the Right to Participate in the Referendum of Citizens of the Russian Federation".
