Abstract:
In article comprehensively analyzed categories of «church (religious) marriage», «civil (secular) marriage», revealed its essential, attribute features, disclosed its relationships. Author believes, that key question of who should immediately normalize and regulate marriage and family relationships in today's society, in end, reduces to question of essence of marriage and consensus on this question, achieved in society. If essence of marriage predominantly mystical, spiritual and moral, religious - church public authorities; if mostly material, utilitarian, mercantile - secular public authorities (state).
