Abstract:
The article considers the main directions of development of legal regulation in the field of genetic engineering and biomedical technologies. Particular attention is paid to international instruments and to the formulation and consolidation of the basic principles of human genome editing, which are currently being developed by the international community. The main achievements in the field of genetic engineering are considered and the conclusion about the necessity of legal regulation of their use is substantiated. Directions of legal thought and necessity of formation of the national legislation of the Russian Federation in the considered area of Biomedicine and biomedical technologies are shown. The article mainly uses the comparative legal method, as well as the methods of induction, deduction and formal logic. The novelty of the research is expressed in the legal analysis of the latest achievements of science in the field of genetic engineering and biomedical technologies, the presentation of the international aspect of legal regulation of relations in connection with the possibility of editing the human genome and the conduct of clinical studies, which necessitate the early development of a legal concept, the formation of international legal principles for the regulation of these relations. The principles formulated by the international community, which can initiate the development of national legislation, are presented.
