Abstract:
The aim of this article is a summary and critical analysis of the interpretations of the concept of «religious fundamentalism» in the Western research literature. It aims to answer two main questions. First, what is the attitude of Western academic circles to the specified phenomenon in the light of the obvious cultural clashes. Secondly, in what form they appear to the actual problem of the associative diffuziy linking religion and fundamentalism with violence. Methodological and theoretical basis of article amounted works known mainly American and British political scientists, experts in the field of religion, Oriental studies, and social psychology. Among them are two lines of research: historical and ideological and socio-psychological. Working with Western scientific literature is also taught in these two directions. The analysis also became apparent attempts by researchers to objectively look at the problem of religious fundamentalism. However, in his writings, they cannot get rid of subjectivity and alertness due to the historical context and the content of the term, contrary to Western secular worldview. Certainly, sooner or later there will be a moment when the phenomenon of religious fundamentalism will be rethought scientists. And the first step in this direction should be the solution of the issue of his nomination. In recent research in this area and increased attention of the public led to the merging of many non-identical concepts that eventually led to the distortion of the meaning. The abovementioned areas can be used as benchmarks for its purification through separation of contextual and subjective evaluations. Question about modern semantic field of «religious fundamentalism» required further clarification of the term. And it should not be in separate planes of social psychology, history, or political science, but taking into account all its characteristics. This is an attempt to break the negative associations of the concept and give it a new value to objectively assess and value, and the scale of the phenomenon. Such work is important for highly specialized research and the study of more large-scale. Fundamentalism, ideas, human consciousness, elements of individual and group psychology is the entropy sources. On the one hand, they disrupt the stability of social systems and subsystems. On the other hand, they cause them to develop and evolve.
