Changes in the number and changes in the composition of the urban population in the Nizhny Novgorod region (1860-1890 years)

The article is devoted to the study of quantitative and qualitative changes in the urban population of the Nizhny Novgorod province of social and class changes of the urban population in the period from 1861 to 1897. Based on the research the following conclusions . During the II half of XIX century. is the process of increasing the size of the urban population of the Nizhny Novgorod province, one of the reasons which should be called the migration of peasants to the cities. As a result, the urban population was represented in most of the non-privileged classes, as reflected in significant material polarization . The above factors have contributed to the erosion of social class structure of society and the formation of class groups
