Background. Explore the theoretical approaches to understanding the essence of the term “political leader" and "political authority", the definition of modern concepts on the formation of a political leader and acquisition of political authority, analysis of the latest trends on the formation of political leaders and the requirements for them. The issue of political leadership is an interdisciplinary, research which is dedicated to the works by such famous scientists as: F. Blondel, R. Sogdill, T. Hilton, А. Goldier, E. Bogardus, F. Galton, M. Weber, D. Locke, M-F. Rousseau. Methodology - the principles, tools and techniques of scientific knowledge, including the methods of theoretical and empirical studies, general scientific methods of analysis, as well as a wide range of different methodological approaches. Conclusions. The issue of political leadership is very delicate. Currently, there is a theoretical basis for the definition of the nature and content of the key concepts of political leadership. Research existing developments have allowed the author to formulate a position regarding the interpretation of the political leadership. Also in the paper we analyze the key concepts of modern political science concerning the transformation of the individual in a political leader and the acquisition of political authority. The results led to the conclusion that today becomes very important issue of training and promotion of young leaders, yaks have a legitimate and unconditional political authority. In this context, a detailed analysis of common features political authority, as well as shows the basic model of professional training of political leaders. Research Framework. The findings of the study results can be used to refine the vectors of influence of the Institute of Political Leadership in the modern political circles, as well as defining features of building an effective political process control systems in different spheres of society. Usability. Promising directions for further research are to justify ways to improve the efficiency of public administration with the requirements of the present and the dynamic changes of a globalized and integrated society. Significance. The practical and theoretical value are the author's approach to the knowledge of the essence of political leadership, formalized requirements for the new generation of politicians, and to mark the differences of political leadership and political authority.
