Abstract:
The Constitution of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, more commonly known as the September Constitution, was octroyed on September 3, 1931. It was the second Constitution in the history of Yugoslavia. The adoption of this Constitution formally abolished the dictatorship established by king Alexander Karageorgievich in 1929. In the Constitution, the Kingdom of Yugoslavia was declared hereditary and constitutional monarchy. The king continued to be a key element of the state system. He was the head of state, commanded the armed forces, headed the administrative authority, together with the People's Representation exercised legislative power. The status of royal power under the Constitution of 1931 is the subject of this article.
