CURRENT TRENDS IN UNIVERSAL HUMAN RIGHTS SYSTEM: MODERNISATION OR DEGRADATION?

In 2015, the international community has marked a significant date - the 70th anniversary of the entry into force of the Charter of the United Nations and the beginning of its activities. In 2016, the world community is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the adoption and the 40th anniversary of the entry into force of the two fundamental international human rights instruments - International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. These significant dates are a good motivation to analyse current trends and processes occurring in the universal human rights system, pay attention to changes in the understanding and interpretation of legal principles and norms in the area of human rights, as well as values forming the basis of human rights and freedoms, by universal quasi-judicial and regional judicial bodies, fraught with negative consequences for the existing universal human rights system.
