Abstract:
the author of the article points out that the US financial system covers a wide range of institutions and services that can be grouped into the following groups: 1) a depository system covering banks, savings associations and credit unions of all sizes, types and statutory forms; 2) financial markets; 3) the asset management and insurance industries, as well as retail and institutional investment products; 4) non-bank financial institutions. The financial system of the United States is regulated by the «mountain chain» model - it is the sectoral regulation of the financial system by a number of regulators. The main regulators of the US financial system are: the Federal Reserve System, the Ministry of Finance, the Office of the Currency Controller (OCC), the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the National Administration of Credit Unions (NCUA), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) commodity futures trading (CFTC), the Federal Agency for Housing Finance (FHFA) and the Bureau of Financial Protection of Consumers (CFPB).
