Abstract:
The purpose of the study. Information warfare as an element of modern international politics is becoming particularly important in the strategically critical Sahel African region (the authors define the Sahel political subregion as consisting of the countries of the Sahel Alliance of States (AHS), whereas geographically the Sahel region is much wider) – one of the largest centers of geopolitical competition. The article examines in detail the methods and strategies of information influence of Russia and Western countries, analyzes the role of the media international, as well as the impact of information campaigns on the political stability and international relations of the region. Extensive materials from Russian and international sources over the past few years have been used. Results. The results of the study contribute to the understanding of modern tools of geoinformational warfare and the formation of effective information security measures.
