The article deals with the problems of formation and use of savings in the market economy. The necessity of regulation of the process of creating favorable conditions for attracting savings of the population, strengthening its confidence in the policy to attract household funds. The practical significance of the study of the socio-economic nature of savings as an important source of domestic investment. The role of investments in the economy and sources of their financing are considered. The purpose of investment policy of the state and the factors constraining investment activity are defined. Attention is paid to the influence of inflation and interest rate on deposits on the dynamics of the savings rate of the population, which is an indicator of the standard of living of the population and its investment potential. The connection of savings with investments is established, the most significant problems of their implementation with the use of financial market instruments are identified. The monetary incomes and expenses of the population are characterized. The value of Bank deposits in the income of the population is noted. The role of the Bank of Russia in the formation of savings behavior of citizens is revealed. On the basis of the study of the problem of transformation of savings into investment, it is concluded that the need to enhance the role of the population in the investment and savings process.
