Abstract:
The article presents the analysis of the legal status of the High judicial Council of Serbia. The High judicial Council doesn't exercise judicial power, i.e. doesn't have judicial authority, but it is a body of judicial self-government. High judicial Council has broad powers in the field of recruitment of the judiciary, including the higher judiciary, of bringing judges to disciplinary responsibility, in the area of training and retraining of the judiciary, in shaping budget allocations for the implementation of judicial activities, in the development and implementation of justice reform, etc. Analyzing the content of the legal status of the High judicial Council of Serbia, the author comes up to the conclusion that the legal status of this body differs from Supreme Council of Magistracy of France status due to the peculiarities of the system of state authorities of Serbia.
