On determinants of religious fundamentalism emergence

Achieving success in the struggle against extremism in Russia is impossible without stopping the growth of ethno-cultural and religious extremism in the Russian regions. The decision to identify the problem, preventive, detection, prevention and qualification extremism requires optimization of the content of special professional training in this area, improvement of its forms and methods, providing deep and complete understanding of the genesis and nature of religious fundamentalism and its determinants. The aim of this study is to analyze the causes of religious fundamentalism. Proceeding from this goal, we set the following tasks: to examine the evolution of religious fundamentalism; identify the main factors influencing the emergence of religious fundamentalism. The study used system approach, categorical and comparative analysis, synthesis and logic synthesis. Author clarified the concept of religious fundamentalism and its features, as well as macro- and isolated microfactors having a direct impact on the radicalization of religious beliefs. Using the results of research in the process of professional and psychological training of law enforcement officers will contribute to a better understanding of the causes of religious extremism and terrorism, and as a consequence, increase the efficiency of antiterrorist activities. The findings may be taken into account in development of law enforcement agencies training programs, individual courses and their complexes, as well as the evaluation of their effectiveness.
