This article is devoted to the analysis of the compensatory method of protecting the rights of holders of uncertificated securities. The author examines the current legislation, current court practice, rating data on the imposition of responsibility for the unlawful writing-off of uncertificated securities from the violator, issuer, registrar or depositary. In the article the author justifies the position of adopting one of the forms of risk reduction - the introduction of liability and property insurance as a mandatory requirement of securities market participants.
