Legal Regime of Alternative Energy in Russia
( Pp. 55-59)

The article examines the features of the legal regime of alternative energy in Russia, in view of its active development in the global economy. The author states that Russia also needs to develop new energy technologies. The study compares two concepts: renewable energy and alternative energy. As a result, a conclusion is formulated that these concepts are identical to each other, and in the law the said terms are equivalent to the term "renewable energy sources" (RES). In addition, the author examines in detail certain scholarly works by researchers, the subject of which was RES; the environmental component of RES development also became a subject of the article. It should be concluded that Russia needs to adopt a comprehensive federal law regulating alternative energy.
