Life Imprisonment in the System of Types of Punishments

Abstract: The article examines the system of punishments in criminal legislation, which allows to determine the limits of its punitive measures, reveals the role and significance, reflects the general provisions characterizing its evolution, based on changing social conditions in different periods of the development of the state. Special attention is paid to the consideration of the criminal law and penal enforcement aspects of the type of punishment associated with isolation from society - life imprisonment, measures are proposed to improve criminal legislation.
