Abstract:
Based on the consolidated annual reports of the Sverdlovsk region for 1954–1956, which were first introduced into scientific circulation, as well as other materials from two federal and regional archives, data from statistical collections and periodicals, the functioning of state farm production in the Sverdlovsk region in the middle of the 1950s was investigated. An analysis of the state of the resource base of Soviet farms, development of crop production and animal husbandry in them, information is provided on the gross production of Soviet farms and the results of their delivery of agricultural products to the state. The author comes to the conclusion that in the years under consideration the stock-making capacity of labor in state farms of the region, the expansion of crops of fodder crops, as well as potatoes and vegetables, an increase in the number of cattle, pigs and especially poultry. At the same time, grain yield and livestock productivity increased, which led to an increase in gross agricultural output produced at state farms in physical and value terms and its delivery to the state. At the same time, although all state farms in the Sverdlovsk region (except one) had a livestock direction, the cost of their livestock products (with the exception of eggs) was higher than the delivery prices and was unprofitable for them. A similar picture was observed in state farms in other republics and regions of the Urals, and in the country as a whole. The role of state farms in agricultural production of the Sverdlovsk region was in ser. 1950s small, they accounted for only 3,1–3,4% of the gross output of the industry.
