Abstract:
The article describes the new Act of Thailand in 2017 «On Payment Systems», which came into force in April 2018. The Act defines the framework for a new regime for licensing and registration of electronic payment operators, and also establishes some principles for the creation of a stable and reliable ecosystem of electronic payments. It is expected that the Act of 2017 will facilitate the supply of many new and innovative payment services in Thailand. According to the new law, various types of electronic payment systems and enterprises are classified into three new groups: (1) important e-payment systems; (2) supervised e-payment systems; and (3) regulated e-payment services.
