Abstract:
The adoption of the Constitution of 1869 was an important step towards the liberation of the Serbian people from Ottoman rule. This Constitution was the first constitutional act of the Autonomous Serbian Principality, to the development and adoption of which the Port had no relationships. The constitution of 1869 brought significant changes in the order of the organization of the state power of Serbia. According to this Constitution, Serbia was a constitutional monarchy with a strong princely power. The constitution of 1869 provided for the annual convocation of the National Assembly, which was playing a significant role in the legislative process. A special place in the state mechanism of the Serbian Principality under the Constitution of 1869 was occupied by the Ministerial Council, which had extensive powers in the governing sphere. The independent judiciary was represented by the system of courts, the top of which was occupied by the newly formed Court of cassation. The article presents the analysis of the system of the authorities of the Serbian Principality under the Constitution of 1869.
