Abstract:
The new Constitution of Serbia laid the foundations of modern territorial organization of Serbia. The Republic of Serbia is asymmetrical unitary state with two Autonomous provinces. Moreover, in contrast to the socialist era of Yugoslavia, the present status of Autonomous province does not differ significantly from the standards laid down in the modern European concept of regional democracy. This is primarily manifested in the fact that Autonomous units on the territory of modern Serbia are not state formations. In accordance with the Constitution of 2006, the Autonomous province has no independent legislative powers. This fact clearly indicates that the current Constitution of Serbia laid the foundations of the administrative autonomy, the content of which is the subject of this article.
