Abstract:
The article describes the role of the Arctic continental shelf of Russia in the energy security of the country. The author concludes that the geological exploration and development of the Arctic shelf significantly lags behind other oil and gas producing states not only because of expenses and high risks, but also because of conflict in the legislation on subsoil use. The main conclusions were presented at the II International Arctic Legal Forum "Conservation and Sustainable Development of the Arctic: Legal Aspects".
